Dominick Takis

My recent work combines several different mediums (acrylic, oil, cutout, photography and organic materials) in order to create a kind of painting collage.  Through the exploration of water, motion, light and texture, I attempt to create a visual image on the canvas and in the imagination that will change/shift depending on the viewer’s perspective.  Particularly important has been the way music has informed the work.  I allow it to influence my direction both lyrically and symphonically.  I pick up on different vibrations, moods and undertones which often remarkably overlap with my own states of mind.  Ultimately, I attempt to emphasize the synchronicity that exists between the music, my subconscious and the emerging imagery I’m projecting on the canvas.
