I have been painting fire as a metaphor for a long time. It has morphed from meditations on worldly events to depictions of spirits at work and play. Fire is employed to carry messages of color, movement, space, and transport the viewing fortunate one into the lines of dancing vapor. The silk itself breathes, catches and bounces light in different directions.

Media and message combine for the image. Controlling media is something like alchemy, invoking the ancients sense of evidence of authenticity. From time to time, peoples have perished. Rapture, or the imagination of catastrophe gives surviving people a joyful sense of renewal and belief in the endurance of immortal legacy.
