Color Conversations
"As I walked through fallen leaves of magnificent color, I imagined paintings comprised of multiple panels of leaves - blocks of color. A panel alone would present a beautiful color palette within it, and together the panels have a color conversation with each other. Once I started to paint, the imagery expanded into other natural elements and space as well.
I paint what I see. Composing comes into play when deciding the cropping, the scale, and juxtapositions of the different panels. Companion panels serve as transitions, or connections, or contrasts, and aid to illuminate what is special within each one. The goal is that the panels in concert make visible the wondrous color that exists in nature."
